Day 1

Spring training has begun. Harpo and I got out today and went for a little run. We started out like we always do, I hit the timer on my HRM to start taking time and I hit the play button on my ipod shuffle. Except this time my ipod wasn't turning on.... turns out the battery was dead so I came back in to charge it and just decided to ruff it without any music. Which by the way is NOT fun!!!!

But we managed.

The neighborhood I live in, is in a grid layout. On our road, from the main road to the end is .5 miles and each road parellel to ours is the same. There are 3 numbered cross roads that break the lettered roads into 4 parts. Are you still with me? So since I wasn't able to listen to music I was constantly doing math problems in my head and communicating them with Harpo :-)

We are located just in the middle of a long road so it's .25 to the end. I walked the .25 and then jogged down the whole road (that's .5) then I walked the next road and jogged the next 2 (that's 1) and walked another and jogged the last. So it ended up being a total of 3 miles, but I added some walking time in between since well I haven't ran in a month.

It was pretty hard starting out, my lungs were HURTING! But the last two roads I jogged were much easier than the first. I'm just excited to be back in the groove of things where I can just get out and run and not have to feel the pain of starting over again.

Harpo is just super dog, because he's been lazier than me this winter, but yet he got out there today and set the pace. Harpo is my motivation on days like today :-)
