Harpo and I went for a run this afternoon. I'm doing good with my 3 day stretch of workouts :-) My goal is to keep it up.. well forever, but my short term goal is to get through November. Or up until we head to Missouri for Thanksgiving. Then I will set a new goal for December. Baby steps, baby steps.
We did our 'home run' which is just down our street, hopping on the N Cedar Lake bike trail, swinging around up to Minnetonka Ave, past our road to Dakota down the block there and back to the house. It's a 5K (3.1 miles) and a nice challenging (non-flat) route.
I was wanting to just take it at a slow pace, not really caring about my time. But for some reason it was hard again. Hard runs aren't as fun as easy ones. Back when I was running with Sally we were doing about 35 minute 5K, which was perfect, I didn't even really break a sweat (so ya I could have been going faster, but it was easy... therefor fun). I thought maybe it was harder because it was a little colder than I've been used to. 46 degrees, makes the lungs start to get chilly. But once I finished it (even after a few minor/short stops here and there for Harpo to pee) the time was 33 minutes. No wonder, for some reason even though I thought I was running slower I was actually running faster than I used to around Calhoun. Which was actually a good feeling :-)
