Today was a nice day for exercise. We started off with a run around Lake Harriet. Now this lake is shorter than Lake Calhoun which is 3.1 (and I've ran around that many of times) Lake Harriet is 2.75 miles... now I haven't ran in 2 weeks, I ended up getting more than 3/4 of the way around before I started walking. Not sure if it was the heat (since it was 2:00 in the afternoon) or because I haven't ran in a few days. But either way it was still a nice run. And something different, we had never ran around Harriet.
After the run, I read a little then Kyle hopped on his bike and I strapped on my old roller blades. These things haven't been on my feet in over 10 YEARS!!!!! I strapped on the wrist guards as well - I had no idea how I was going to do on these!! Kyle rode slowly beside me as we went around the neighborhood a bit. I have to say I did better than I thought I would - Kyle thought so too.
This got Kyle in the mood to go for an actual bike ride and I told him no way was I getting on the trail on those roller blades, so we went back to the house and I got my bike out. Now if you don't know our bikes they are both a piece of crap, well they go - so I guess that is all that matters. But our gears don't really work very often and they are mountain bikes, but we did put new seats on them from Target last summer!! They aren't really good for the trails we ride on, but like I said they work so I should quit complaining. If we want to pursue this bike hobby we will definitely be investing in some nicer bikes someday.... maybe next spring? Man we have so many hobbies :-) but that's good right?
Anyway we rode for about 6 miles or so, about an hour. To Cedar Lake and around it, I love the trails we ride on, they are so beautiful. My legs should be feeling all of this tomorrow! But it felt soooo great! It was such a gorgeous day!
