Back on the Wagon

I finally went running today. I brought Harpo a long. The ground was covered in snow this morning, but luckily the sun was out a little and most of it melted away. It was about 35 degrees. Not too bad. I now have something to focus on... I always work better when I have a goal set. The Wag, Walk, & Run is May 30th - it's to benefit Helping Paws.

Anyway today I took Harpo and we walked to the end of our street to the trail (about a 5 minute walk, perfect warm up) then ran to the first post of Hwy 100 and back. It took me about 10 minutes to run there, for a total of 23 minutes. Hopefully I can use that length as a gage for improvement. It's no where near 5K, but it's a start since it's been since... well whenever the last time I posted.

Okay I just figured it up, not exact, but what I ran is about 1.76 miles. (there AND back, it's less than a mile from the starting point to hwy 100).

SO my goal... is to run that in about 17 minutes, i have about 6 minutes to shave off. I know I ran slower today because I was dealing with harpo (who is out of shape) and the wind in my face, AND my darn shuffle not playing the song I wanted. Next time, next time. Then I'll have to bump the distance up.
